Back to school is an important time for students, teachers and all those who work in schools: school principals, the main colleges, high schools principals, cooks, supervisors ...
In France, people are returning to school to college or high school in September after two months of vacation (July and August).
There are many students the first day of school:
- 6.61 million schoolchildren. They are between 3 and 10 years. 3 to 5 years, children go to kindergarten. After they go to elementary school (6 years to 10 years).
- 3.35 million college students and schoolgirls. They are between 11 and 14 years and they go to college.
- 2,380,000 secondary school students. They are between 15 and 17 and they go to school.
There are also about 833,000 teachers.
In general, the students return a week after the others.
In the academic year 2010, the French government gave a lot of money for school education: 66 billion euros
